We often hear people lament that time goes by faster today than ever before.  Some say the older you get the faster time goes by.  I am confident that a search of the internet will find hundreds, if not thousands, of books and articles, some with scientific evidence about our perception of time and its relative speed. I feel time does go by faster because by the time I complete my planning Sunday night for the upcoming week it is now Friday.  The time went by so fast I was only able to get a small fraction of the work done that was in my plan.  Not getting my work done has a significant impact on my quality of life, and that bothers me.

Can I change my perception of time by getting more done?  It may not be the solution, but taking back your time is a good place to start.  I started blocking my time on Fridays for the following week.  I use Outlook Calendar and Outlook Tasks to manage my activities.  I find that the Task Reminders are extremely helpful when it comes to remembering what is due.  Red tasks are easily recognized as being overdue.  I am early in this adventure, but have already seen an increase in the amount of work I can get done. I would not say my quality of life is where I want it to be, but it is improving as I become much more proactive at managing my time.

Have you been perplexed by how fast time travels and if so, how are you addressing it?
